A widely used framework for gauging market psychology draws from the Sentiment Cycle popularized by Justin Mamis in his 1999 book “The Nature of Risk.”
This cycle has 4 main phases: Enthusiasm, Panic, Discouragement, and Returning Confidence.
The “Returning Confidence” phase is defined by 3 key traits:
Choppy yet sustained stock price gains
Broadening market participation
Easing credit conditions
